9 Healthy Habits that you can start cultivating today

1. SLEEP

Lack of sleep can make you: cranky, mentally foggy, it weakens your immune system and makes you gain weight - Not to mention that sleep deprivation leads to making poor choices, in general.

Make sleep a priority by adding small changes in your routine. Instead of scrolling though social media, reach for a book or cuddle with your loved one. Drinking tea before bed also helps :)

I am getting into the habit of leaving my phone outside my bedroom so it's not the last thing I look at at night and certainly not the first thing I look at in the morning. 

2. STAY HYDRATED, IT HELPS YOU:

  • Boost energy
  • Remove toxins
  • Improve skin health
  • Promotes weight loss 
  • Lightens mood and more!

If you don't like plain water, try infused water or this sassy water recipe. I personally carry a stainless steel bottle of water everywhere as a constant reminder to have a sip.

3. EXPRESS GRATITUDE AND YOU'LL BE ABLE TO:

Release stress, be more positive and improve your overall sense of well-being.

Have you heard of "The gratitude Jar"? I started one this year. It's a great exercise to remind us how fortunate we truly are - It has helped me appreciate the little and big things in my life.

4. EAT WELL

Food is medicine, it's information we give to our bodies on a daily basis. For me, It's a way of taking care of myself. Our diet affects how we look, how we feel and how we behave. Eat real, non-processed food. Don't count calories, count colors on your plate.

5. EXERCISE DAILY

Find something that you truly enjoy doing so it doesn't feel like a chore. Have fun doing it. As little as 30 minutes can make a big difference in the long run. 

Also, don't be hard on yourself and listen to what your body needs. Maybe one day you're in the mood for a high intensity workout and the next day you just need some stretches. It's all about balance, not guilt.

6.LAUGH OFTEN

When did we start taking ourselves so seriously? I love seeing kids, they laugh all the time and are genuinely happy. There's no better cure for stress than a good laugh!

7. CHOOSE YOUR TRIBE WITH CARE

Surround yourself with people who make you feel good. Invest time and energy in the positive people in your circle - Invest in relationships that bring you joy.

P.S. Let going of relationships/ people that don't make you happy is also a form of self-care.

8. MAKE SELF-CARE A PRIORITY

Do at least one thing for yourself everyday until it becomes a habit. We can't be there for others if we haven't taken care of ourselves first - How do you want to show up today? 

Self-care is a practice. Something that you feel, cultivate, nurture and experience. Nobody else will do it for you. 

9. MEDITATE

We can't control what happens outside but we can control how we approach it. Meditation is a way to change how the mind works. It's designed to raise mental awareness and intends to be liberating. Remember: You have the power to choose your thoughts, you can choose overwhelm or you can choose calm. Regardless of the situation. 

Feeling your best is not something you can outsource. It's a reality you create one good choice at a time - When you feel better you do everything better.

10. ENJOY THE PRESENT 

Last but not least, enjoy the present moment. Honor yourself where you are today because you are a unique gift to this world (it would literally not be the same without you!) You have enough time for your life and you have the capacity to experience great joy every single day.
